Hi. Thanks for sending me the packages. I really appreciate it, and thanks for getting me the license. My mind has been more at peace now that I have it. I have a lot of pictures to send you but I can’t figure out how to put them on the MTC computers. I’m working so hard here. I have learned so much with the short time I’ve been here. I’ve learned my strengths and I have really learned my weaknesses. I have a lot of work I need to do to be a more effective teacher. It’s not easy but I think I’ll really get a feel for it when I’m on my actual mission. I usually learn a lot quicker by actually doing and I know if I put my faith in the Lord and do my best the Lord will touch the people that I teach. I've got a long road ahead but I think it’s going to be a good one. We did this thing in one of my classes called zone teaching. The point of the class is to combine with another district and we pair with someone we don’t know and we learn how to effectively teach someone. One of the activities we had to do was simply just talk to the person across from us. I asked the person about his life and I asked about his family and his relationships. He said his parents are members but aren't very active members and it bothered him that his parents weren’t a better example for him. He also said all of his older brothers and sisters weren’t members of the church and weren’t very supportive in him really leaving. This elder poured out his whole soul to me and I gave him the best advice I could give him. I told him about our family a little bit and how I could kind of relate to him. He felt that I really understood where he was coming from. I gave him some advice saying my goal is to show my family what I am doing I believe to be true in hopes that they can look at that and want to come closer to Christ. And I wanted him to make that his goal as well. By the end of the conversation we both really felt the spirit. He appreciated what I said to him. The next day I asked him how he felt about last night and he said if it wasn’t for what I said he probably wouldn’t have stayed on his mission. Now he doesn’t want to quit on his mission. He said that this week has been really tough for him and it really helped strengthen his testimony. I love it here. I have already changed a life for the better. I hope I can do much more.
Love you. Keep me updated with how things are at home, how you two are doing, how the dogs are coping, make sure Lisa doesn’t destroy my car. Let me know what’s going on in the media.
Love you. You’ll hear from me not this Monday but next Monday.
